Greetings from Indla, by way of NJ.

Representatives of Indian culture danced across the stage at the two-day India Fair in Edison. The 2016 India Fair is a large South Asian culture show, said Priyanka Shah of Royal Entertainment, which produced the event.

The event, on Saturday and Sunday, was expected to draw 20,000 visitors. About 25 schools brought performers of all ages to dance on the main stage at the NJ Exposition Center, including the young performers above. Yashitha Bujala performed as the Goddess Durga. The teen was dressed in full costume and had her hands and face painted blue.

Goddess Durga is the mother of the universe in the Hindu religion and protects followers from evil. “It was cold and uncomfortable,” Buiala said. “(But) I wanted to show everyone

what good looks like.”
